Former U.S President Ronald Reagan was quoted in 1978 as saying, “Inflation is as violent as a mugger, as frightening as an armed robber, and as deadly as a hitman.”
The global inflation crisis we are facing today has not been caused by a single factor only but rather a series of events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Russian invasion of Ukraine, Brexit and more. Not only has this caused rapid inflation but it is also stagnating and slowing down economic growth causing stagflation (which was last seen in the 1970s), with potentially harmful consequences for middle- and low-income economies alike.
This leads to businesses globally facing the challenge of increased costs and decreased income. Businesses have to act now to lower the risk and avoiding major impact as far as possible. There are strategies and different means of overcoming the challenges and also identifying opportunities for businesses.
Worried about the effects of inflation on your business? You are not alone. It is weighing on the minds of most business leaders as most perceive it as the biggest challenge they and their peers are facing today.
Are these concerns justified, and how exactly is inflation impacting your business growth and profitability plans?
Many questions remain. Get a full breakdown of the scope of the problem and how it may affect your business by a leading expert Carsten Brzeski, the Global Head of Macro and Chief Economist Eurozone of ING during today’s Business Buzz Outlook session.
