Transparent Compliance to Banking Regulations Through an Agile Approach

27th September 2022, 12:00 – 13:30 CET

The European banking industry is no stranger to regulations as they must comply with the standards set not only by their governmental bodies, but also by European regulators such as the EBA and the ECB. These regulators update and change the rules frequently which can lead to confusion regarding proper compliance management and banks need clarity into the status of regulatory processes. Meanwhile, financial crimes continue to be a challenge for European banks as cost can often run high without agile
responses in place.

In this 90 Minutes European Banking Insights, we will explore how banks can build a positive image while putting extra effort into ESG and the benefits that come with it. We will discuss the importance of key digital tools in ensuring agile responses to not only regulatory changes but also financial crime. In addition you will also gain insights into the current state of the regulatory process of the European banking industry

Addressing Financial Crime Challenges in Banks Through Agile Means & Technology
Martin Vornehm, Vice President Anti-Financial Crime, Deputy Head of Sanctions & Embargoes Office Germany/EMEA, Deutsche Bank AG, Frankfurt

Combating Financial Crime is an issue that affects all banks around the globe and while the core technology to ensure general compliance is usually in place, there are still numerous manual processes and controls driven by external regulation and internal policy for which no appropriate technology support exists. This, together with the need to integrate existing platforms to achieve a client centric view on AML, KYC, and Sanctions-relevant data is a major challenge for banks, especially those financial institutions which are still and to a large degree operating on legacy platforms.

This challenge can however be mastered through agile approaches and technological implementation and in this session Martin Vornehm from Deutschebank will share his take on this approach.
