Optimising the Balancing Act of Digital and Human Skills for the Digital Future

The future of work is changing. Artificial Intelligence, automation and robotics will make this shift as significant as the mechanization in prior generations of agriculture and manufacturing. While some jobs will be lost, and many others created, almost all will change.

According to World Economic Forum (WEF) automation and digitization may displace around 85 million jobs by 2025, around 97 million new roles may emerge that are better adapted to the new division of labour between humans, machines, and algorithms. We are clear that today’s workforce will need to learn new skills and learn to continually adapt as new occupations emerge. However, we are less clear, about the specific skills tomorrow’s workers will require:

  • Defining the skills of a Digital Centaur
  • How do we grow Digital Centaurs in our organization?
  • Should we introduce a skill-based certification system?
  • Mixing of cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills
